In second grade at Troy Elementary, our young writers are blossoming! This year, students have been focusing on developing the essential skills needed to write complete paragraphs with proper spelling and grammar. They’ve already made impressive strides in their writing abilities, showcasing creativity and enthusiasm in every piece.

By the end of the year, we are excited to see the students put multiple paragraphs together, building on what they've already learned. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the progress they've made!  For more happenings in the Troy School District go to troysd287.org

LIBRARY NEWS:    March is here, and we have some fun activities happening this month at the Troy Community Library. Join us on March 24th, 1-2 pm, for Tea Time and Book Chat. This program for adults, and a chance to drink cozy beverages, eat nibbles, and discuss all things book-related. This is a book discussion group, not a book club. Stop by the library, if this sounds like your literary cup of tea.

Have you completed the same puzzle more than once? Are looking for a new puzzle challenge? The library is hosting a drop-in puzzle exchange from March 3rd to March 13th, during open library hours. Stop by the library and exchange your old puzzle for a different one. Please only bring puzzles that are in good condition with no missing pieces.

March’s STEAM activity is an in-person event on March 19th, at 4 pm. The Palouse Basin Aquifer Committee (PBAC) will do a presentation about water, where it comes from and more. There will be a short presentation, followed by an engaging hands-on activity. These activities are geared towards elementary-age kids.

We will be getting crafty on March 31st, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Join us for Craft Closet Creations, I will set out a few crafts from the library’s craft closet for patrons to enjoy. All ages are welcome to participate. However, the crafts will generally skew towards 13 and under.

Storytime is the first and third Thursdays of the month, at 11 am, except on holidays and when otherwise posted. Tots Playtime is the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, at 11 am. Tots Playtime is a self-directed, open playtime. I will put out some games and toys for the kids to enjoy. This is a great way to meet people in our community.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2025 Winter Reading Program.

If you have questions about anything happening at the library this month, please call Michelle Sturdy at 208-835-4311 or email troy@latahlibrary.org

The Troy Cheer Team has made waves in their inaugural season! With top-three finishes at every competition, they've proven that first-timers can indeed make a big impact. They won the Grand Champions title at the Timberlake Tiger Tournament and have also advanced to state—where they’re set to compete for the Cheer Championship on February 28 in Nampa. Their remarkable journey proves hard work, team spirit, and  determination.

Congratulations to the Troy Cheer Team on a season to remember!

Throughout the year the Troy Lions Club continues their commitment to serving the Troy community. We do this by donating to various community groups, the Troy School programs and by donating our facility for community programs.

We are able to do these things by raising funds through our fund-raising projects. It takes members to work on these projects.

To continue supporting and funding we need additional members to help with these efforts. We are asking our community members to step up and help us serve by joining us as members.

For more information about joining the Troy Lions, contact Membership Chairman Lion Daryl Power 208 596-9092 or Lion Pres. Marie Vogel 208 835-2021.

The Troy Garden is gearing up for a great summer! We have University of Idaho Master Gardeners eager to help with garden setup and gardening information. This is a great way to get some very fresh produce going for your family, to help your kids see the miracle of plants growing and producing food and flowers, make a bit of money selling what you produce, grow to donate, or to enjoy the mental and physical health benefits of gardening!

Plots will be rented to cover water costs. Let us know if you’d like to rent a plot, split a plot, donate to a plot scholarship fund, or donate time and/or materials or offer wisdom!

Please contact Duane and Sally: daashbach@yahoo.com, or at (707)849-6017.
