As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, it is crucial that we maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of our yards. With the increase in flea and tick activity during this season, keeping our yards mowed and clean becomes even more critical. Therefore, I want to remind everyone about this practice's importance in safeguarding our community's health and well-being.
Fleas and ticks are not only a nuisance, but can also pose significant health risks to humans and animals alike. By regularly mowing our yards, we can reduce the habitat for these pests, making our outdoor spaces less inviting to them. Additionally, a well-maintained yard minimizes the chances of encountering noxious weeds as well, which can harm our beloved pets and wildlife.
July is just around the corner, and I am delighted to remind you that Troy Old Timer's Days, a cherished community event organized by the Troy Lions, will take place on July 8th. This event promises to be a day filled with excitement, entertainment and a true sense of community. I want to thank the Troy Lions for their dedication and hard work in organizing this annual celebration.
The highlight of the festivities will be the much-anticipated parade, and I encourage all interested groups and individuals to register as soon as possible to secure their participation. Please call City Hall to find out how to register. In response to popular demand, this year's Troy Days will also feature a new addition—a food truck night! We have chosen a great selection of food vendors that will offer something for everyone! And as tradition dictates, the City will also host a lively street dance to conclude the day's celebrations. I encourage families and friends to come together and partake in this fantastic event. The street dance offers an opportunity for everyone to have fun, create lasting memories, and reinforce the sense of community that makes Troy so special.
Let us embrace the spirit of Troy Old Timer's Days and make this year's celebration an extraordinary experience for everyone.
Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable summer, and as always, I am proud to be your mayor!
