Wastewater Improvement Project

Join us for an Open House to meet with community leaders and engineering staff to ask questions about the wastewater improvement project.

The event will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the Troy Lion’s Club, 415 S Main St, Troy, ID 83871.

WASTEWATER SYSTEM DEFICIENCIES:

System deficiencies are summarized below:

Collection System

  • Inflow and Infiltration (I/I)

Available data indicates excessive entrance of groundwater into the collection system due to cracked and broken pipes. This excessive water dilutes sewage and makes it difficult to treat.

  • Aging Infrastructure

The City’s collection system contains over 16,000 feet of concrete and asbestos cement pipe installed in the 1970s, which is now past its useful life. Treatment System Existing wastewater treatment equipment is past its useful life. New discharge permit contains a new stringent effluent limit for ammonia which the existing treatment plant cannot meet. Further stringent limits anticipated in next discharge permit (approximately 5-10 years).
