SUMMER PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Position Title: Summer Program Assistant

Department: City of Troy - Summer Youth Program

 

Work Schedule: Part-Time (M - TH 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM - June 2024 - August 2024)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The City of Troy is currently accepting applications for a Summer Program Assistant for our Youth Summer Program, which begins in June 2024 and ends in August 2024 with a break during July 4th week. Under the supervision of the Summer Program Director, the assistant will aid with weekly/daily activities planned for enrolled children (K through 6th).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Program Director to develop, implement, and plan age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, and field trips.

  • Ability to lead and actively participate in games/programs with children.

  • Effectively monitor behavior while using appropriate discipline techniques.

  • Help coordinate and organize regularly held program-related fundraisers. (Car wash & Troy Days Dunk Tank)

  • Be available for the duration of the program and demonstrate a positive work ethic.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Skills: Experience working with children K-6th Grade is preferred.

  • Licenses, Certificates: Reliable transportation is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Physical Demands: Primarily physical and active work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 30 pounds, carrying, walking, and standing.

  • Work Environment: Indoors and outdoors, with occasional visits to outdoor parks and other recreational destinations.
