Position Title: Summer Program Director

Work Schedule: Part-Time (June 2022 - August 2022)

Hourly Rate: DOE



The City of Troy is currently accepting applications for a Summer Program Director for our Youth Summer Program, which begins in June 2022 and ends in August 2022. The program director will be responsible for training staff, implementing weekly designed programs, and planning daily activities for enrolled children (K through 6th). In addition, the incumbent will be the primary contact for the program and responsible for all communication with parents.



  • Ability to supervise and train program assistant staff members.

  • Work with assistant staff members to develop, implement, and plan age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, field trips, and swimming.

  • Ability to lead and actively participate in games/programs with children.

  • Effectively monitor behavior while using appropriate discipline techniques.

  • Coordinate and organize regularly held program-related fundraisers.

  • Prepare and maintain necessary supplies and stay within budget guidelines.

  • Communicate effectively with parents.

  • Be available for the entire length of the program and demonstrate a positive work ethic.


  • Skills: Experience working with children K-6th Grade is preferred.

  • Licenses, Certificates: Reliable transportation is required. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required, or the incumbent must be willing to obtain by date of employment.

    • Must have a valid Driver's License

    • Must be over 17 years old.



  • Physical Demands: Primarily physical and active work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 30 pounds;  carrying, walking, and standing.

  • Work Environment: Works primarily indoors with occasional visits to outdoor parks and other recreational destinations.

  • Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer, calculator, copier, telephone.
