SUMMER PROGRAM STAFF

Position Title: Summer Program Staff

Department: City of Troy - Summer Youth Program

 

Work Schedule: Part-Time (M - TH 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM - June 2025 - August 2025)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The City of Troy is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join the Troy Summer Youth Program as staff members under the supervision of the Summer Program Director and Assistant Director. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with the Program Director and Assistant Director in providing a fun, engaging, and safe environment for local youth.

 

Staff members will assist in planning, organizing, and supervising daily activities, ensuring participants have a positive and enriching summer experience.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in leading and supervising youth activities, including sports, arts and crafts, outdoor games, and educational programs.

  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all program participants.

  • Support the Program Director and Assistant Director in daily operations.

  • Engage with children in a positive and encouraging manner.

  • Help set up and clean up activities and program areas.

  • Monitor and manage behavior following program guidelines.

  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and participants.

  • Provide first aid and respond appropriately to minor incidents as needed.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.

  • Experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting is a plus.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to be active outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Enthusiastic, patient, and responsible attitude.

​​WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Physical Demands: Primarily physical and active work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 30 pounds, carrying, walking, and standing.

  • Work Environment: Indoors and outdoors, with occasional visits to outdoor parks and other recreational destinations.
